About Gold Value Chart US

Values on this page use gold spot at $4,048.80/oz · updated

Quick answer: Gold Value Chart US is a reference site that converts the live gold price into the numbers people use every day: the value of a gram in each karat, a pennyweight, an ounce and the melt value of a piece you own. The figures come from a public spot feed and a futures series, refresh automatically, and carry a timestamp. The site earns money through one clearly marked partner link, described under "Advertising disclosure" below.

Who we are

We are a small editorial team that builds and maintains this site. We do not publish personal biographies, and we make no claims about trading desks, refinery experience or professional licenses. What we do claim is narrower and easier to check: every number on the page is derived from a stated source by arithmetic you can repeat, and every page says what its numbers cannot tell you.

The site exists because the usual gold price page stops at one ounce figure. Someone holding a 14K chain needs a gram figure, a karat adjustment and an honest reminder that a buyer will not pay full melt. We built the pages that bridge that gap. Start with the gold value chart if you want the overview, or jump to 14K gold price per gram if you already know the karat.

Where the numbers come from

Two feeds sit behind the site.

  • Spot price. The headline figure and every table are based on the spot price of gold per troy ounce, taken from the gold-api.com feed (the XAU series).
  • Futures closes. The charts plot daily closes of COMEX gold futures (the GC=F series), retrieved through Yahoo Finance. Futures and spot differ by a small gap, currently +$12.80, which is why the last point on a chart may not match the big number exactly.

From spot we derive everything else. A gram is spot divided by 31.1034768, the number of grams in a troy ounce, giving $130.17 for pure gold right now. A karat figure multiplies that by the share of gold in the alloy: 14K is 14 parts in 24, so $75.93 per gram. The gold purity chart lists every karat with its fineness and hallmark, and the gold price per ounce page explains the conversion in full.

How often it refreshes

The site is rebuilt every six hours, so the static numbers in the page source are never more than a few hours old. In your browser, a short script re-ticks the headline figures roughly once a minute. If that script is blocked, the page still shows the correct values as of the last build, and each number carries the as-of time (October 28, 2026 at the moment of this build) so you can judge freshness for yourself.

Our editorial standard

We follow a few rules and apply them to every page.

  1. State the source or show the sum. If a figure is not from a feed, it is arithmetic on one, and the method is on the page.
  2. Say what the chart cannot tell you. Melt value is not a buyer's offer and not a dealer's retail price. Seller-leaning pages repeat that clearly.
  3. Hedge what is general. Where we describe typical payout ranges or what analysts often point to, we say "typically" or "often" and avoid false precision.
  4. No forecasts. We record history on the gold price history page and the 10-year gold price chart. We do not predict prices.
  5. No financial advice. We explain how gold is measured and priced. We do not tell anyone what to do with their money.

Corrections

Mistakes happen, in data feeds as much as in prose. When we find an error, whether we spot it ourselves or learn of it from a reader, we correct the page and update the date at the top. We do not run a contact channel on this site, so corrections are made when found, through our own regular reviews of the sources and the arithmetic. Larger guides, such as the buying guide, keep a dated update history.

How we make money

Reading this site costs nothing. It earns revenue from a single partner link, described below. That link never changes a figure on any page, and the tables are calculated before any commercial consideration comes into play.

Advertising disclosure

Some pages on this site carry a link to Augusta Precious Metals. If you follow that link and later become a customer, Augusta may pay us a referral fee. It costs you nothing extra, and the fee does not change the price you are quoted.

That arrangement is a conflict of interest, and you should weigh our recommendation with it in mind. Here is how we try to keep it honest.

  • We recommend one company, so there is nothing to rank or to rig. You can read our reasons on the where to buy gold guide.
  • We state who Augusta does not suit. It requires a $50,000 minimum, whether you buy with cash or for an IRA, so it is not a place to buy a single coin or a one-gram bar.
  • We repeat facts that come from Augusta's own materials as Augusta's statements, such as the claim that its educators are salaried rather than commissioned, and we label them that way.
  • The green button on the site requests a free Gold & Silver IRA information kit. After you submit it, Augusta calls you. Please read anything it sends before you decide.
  • We mention that Augusta has one complaint on file with the BBB in the last three years, as of September 2026, because a clean-sounding summary would not be the whole picture.

You are never obliged to use the link. Everything else here, from the charts to the gold value calculator, works the same way whether you click it or not.
